The Lost Thing

Andrew Ruhemann and co-director Shaun Tan (the author) had been working on the script for The Lost Thing for some while and Shaun and possibly a few others had boarded versions before I got involved. But Andrew asked me in to take a fresh look at the entire film (then 25 minutes) and to tighten it up. It was a wonderful opportunity and I had a few passes at it, editing together a rough animatic with scratch track myself. This is a QT of 2 sequences. After much more editing and input from others and several years of production in Australia, the film emerged to win Le Cristal d’Annecy and then an Oscar.
